YOUR PROTECTION FROM THE FORCES OF EVIL!  God, who used His infinite power to create the universe, uses that same infinite power to protect us from the forces of evil.

In this series, in the context of the three angels’ messages in Revelation 14, which make up the core of the gospel of Jesus Christ and are the present truth for our time, we look at the significance of God as our creator and the importance of worshipping Him.

Seeking God’s Presence

God Most High, thank You for your love, your compassion, and mercy. We praise You for Your divine power to create. We ask you to release your divine power to defeat the enemy. In Jesus’ Name Amen

God is the creator of the universe. He created the sun, moon, and stars. He, in six days, created the heavens and the earth and filled it with living things. This same God created us. He has a personal interest in each one of us. He has a personal interest in you.

This same God freed His people from slavery in Egypt. He led His people in the desert. He gave them bread from heaven. He caused the walls of Jericho to fall. God defeated Israel’s enemies in war.

This same God who created everything will also defeat Satan and his evil angels in the war for our minds.

God loves you so much and desires nothing more than to be in your heart and mind. In the good times and in the time of trouble, God is not far from us.

This is the point the following scriptures make.

2 Corinthians 5:17

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Psalms 139:15-18

15 My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

16 Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them.

17 How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them!

18 If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; When I awake, I am still with You. (Psalms 139:15-18)

Acts 17:27

27 so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; (Acts 17:27)

Colossians 1:17

17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. (Colossians 1:17)

The point is that although God is God.  Although He is the ruler of this vast universe. Although He created everything. And although He is above us created humans, He is not disconnected from us. Though He is transcendent in the sense that he exists above and over all creation, He remains a part of our lives on this earth.

This is evident in how he has historically interacted with His people.   Isaiah confirms this in Isaiah 57:15, saying,

15 For thus says the High and Lofty One Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, With him who has a contrite and humble spirit, To revive the spirit of the humble, And to revive the heart of the contrite ones. (Isaiah 57:15).

Jesus also expresses this to His followers in John 17:23:

23 I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me. (John 17:23). How much closer can one get?

Jesus wants to be in us. He wants to be in your heart. He wants an intimate relationship with you!

What’s more promising is that even though we may have sinned and done some really bad things, God has the power to recreate us in his image. He has the power to change your heart to be the same as His heart. Think about this, God who made, who created, and who sustains billions of galaxies is the same God Paul describes in Act 17:28:

28 for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.’ (Acts 17:28).

This is the same God who also works in your heart to transform you. He puts within our minds new thoughts and feelings. He gives us a new walk and a new talk. He removes sin from our lives and makes us clean.

In other words, God does not just overhaul us. He makes us brand new. What a powerful and comforting thought to know that God loves us.

This is the point that the following passage in makes in the book, That I May Know Him It says:

We dishonor God when we think of Him only as a judge ready to pass sentence upon us, and forget that He is a loving Father. The whole spiritual life is molded by our conceptions of God, and if we cherish erroneous views of His character, our souls will sustain injury. We should see in God one who yearns toward the children of men, longing to do them good. (That I May Know Him, p. 263)

Thus, knowing that God knows all our darkest, deepest secrets should not disturb us. We can take pleasure and find comfort, hope, and peace in knowing that He is near us and desires only our good. The Good News about Jesus should, therefore, eliminate our fear of the Judgment.

What did Jesus do that dispels the fear of the Judgment despite our deep dark secrets?
